The new James Bond film, “Skyfall”, is now a month into filming. The cast includes is made up of many successful British actors, including new faces Naomie Harris (28 Weeks Later) and Ben Whishaw (Layer Cake) as the new 'Q'. Stepping into the shoes of this character will be a challenge for the 31 year old.
Director Sam Mendes said in a press conference that he believes the script has “all the elements of a classic Bond movie, including, to quell any rumours, a lot of action”. Making classic Bond films is far from what they've been doing lately. The modern James Bond films are closer to the Jason Bourne franchise than the classic Roger Moore, Sean Connery era.
The only hint as to what the plot will be is that it's going to centre around 'M' (played by Judi Dench); exposing a secret side to her past. It has also been rumoured that this will be her last film as 'M'. This opens the possibility that her character may actually die.
Daniel Craig has said in an interview, “It was my intention to make the best Bond film that we possibly could.” It was also suggested in the interview that Daniel Craig would be carrying on the role for at least a few more films.
The release date is scheduled for October 2012.
