Nine Bob Note at the London Short Film Festival

 

Hot on the heels of an incredibly successful 2011 with indie box-office hits WEEKEND and TOMBOY, and Oscar shortlisted films LIFE ABOVE ALL and WE WERE HERE, independent film distributor Peccadillo Pictures is thrilled to announce it is teaming up with the London Short Film Festival to showcase ten short films from exciting up-and-coming talent, in the aptly titled festival strand ‘9 BOB NOTE’.

 

“From a New York loft apartment to a Berlin hotel room via a broken down lift in Lambeth, Peccadillo Pictures and the London Short Film Festival present an eclectic mix of short films from up and coming new talent that depict queer characters in situations both funny and heart-rending, definitive and unique.”

From a New York loft apartment to a Berlin hotel room via a broken down lift in Lambeth, Peccadillo Pictures and the London Short Film Festival present an eclectic mix of short films from up and coming new talent that depict queer characters in situations both funny and heart-rending, definitive and unique.

Total Running Time: 137mins + break, followed by Q&A with directors and cast.

Lost Tracks - Jon Stanford (UK) 21mins:

Lost Tracks explores the life of Tobi, a teenager disillusioned with family life, friends and the community around her and follows the final days in Tobi's preparations to run away.

 

What You Looking At? - Dir. Faryal Velmi (UK) 10mins:

Two very different people in the London borough of Lambeth - a drag queen (Michael Twaits) and a woman in a burka. Only in a lift would they ever cross each other’s path. But these two have more in common than they first thought.

 

Blinders - Dir. Jacob Brown (USA) 10mins:

A young couple goes to a bar one night and meets a young creature of a boy. This boy possesses an otherworldly physical beauty that could attract anyone, man or woman. Starring Luke Worrall and Nathaniel Brown (Enter The Void).

 

James Dean - Dir. Lucy Asten Elliott (UK) 8mins:

A family tries its best to get out of the driveway, but one of their daughters has decided it’s finally time to bring out the ‘real’ her.

Fresh Air Therapy 2 - Dir. Christoph Scheermann (Germany) 15mins

Kerstin and Petra, two women in the prime of their lives, try out couple’s therapy by engaging in a role play in an upmarket hotel. Things do not go as planned when the role play breaks down, and to make things worse they find out they are not alone in their room!

 

We Once Were Tide - Dir. Jason Bradbury (UK) 18mins:

On the windswept southern coast of the Isle of Wight, Anthony, torn between his boyfriend and dependent mother, must realise that to love something is to give it away.

 

AWOL - Dir. Deb Shoval (USA) 13mins:

Days before she’s to be deployed to Afghanistan, Joey goes home to rural Pennsylvania for Christmas and surprises her lover, Rayna. Joey opens up and shares her secret holiday wish, but Rayna has other plans.

A young man meets a stranger to indulge in a secret bout of S&M, an experience that will change his life forever.

 

Hold On Tight - Dir. Anna Rogers (Ireland) (13mins):

Holding hands or kissing in public isn't for everyone. When it comes to same sex relationships, showing your love outside of the home is sometimes a complicated personal choice. This documentary moves between the public and private spaces in which lesbian and gay couples live, and explores small gestures of human connectedness.
