Room 36 Worth Wait Inn For?

If Oscar's were handed out for sheer determination then Director Jim Groom would win hands down, for the determination he has shown in getting this low budget British film finished and distributed is nothing short of miraculous, in fact the actual story surrounding the making of the film contained in the documentary accompanying the DVD is almost as enjoyable as the film itself.

11 years in the making and set in a grubby hotel, Room 36 is a dark, seedy, seductive British farcical caper that is best described in a quote from the documentary itself “Hitchcock meet Carry On” or dark cloak and dagger stuff mixed with some smutty humour.

Add this to the great monochrome photography that oozes atmosphere, you end up with a really entertaining piece of cinema that if not taken too seriously is very rewarding.

Room36 is out on DVD from the 25th January 2010.
