Chicago-based Swym Good Films has unveiled the official trailer and poster for its latest horror short film, ‘THE GIRL IN THE STREET’. Directed by Chris Paicely and Miles August—an acclaimed filmmaking duo—and written by Paicely, the short has now begun its festival run.
‘THE GIRL IN THE STREET’ features a vocal cameo by horror icon Heather Langenkamp, best known for her role in ‘A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET’. The SAG-AFTRA production stars Shawn Roundtree Jr. (‘Emperor of Ocean Park’), D’Andra Laneé, Whitney Blair Masters, and Chris Anthony.
Plot:
Malachi (Roundtree Jr.) leaves his dying sister behind to take up a job in a quiet, remote town. But his arrival is marked by an unsettling encounter with a removal truck driver (Anthony), and soon after, a bloodied woman in a mask appears on the dirt road outside his house, screaming for help. Malachi must decide whether to intervene—or preserve his own safety.
The short explores themes of morality, conformity, and complicity, drawing inspiration from psychological horror films like ‘GET OUT’ and ‘THE WICKER MAN’.
“Horror doesn’t lurk in the shadows; it stands exposed in the light of day,” say directors Chris & Miles. “This is horror that dares to ask: What does it cost to be a good person?”
The film features cinematography by Lana Mattice, music by Pablo Fuu (‘WHEN EVIL LURKS’), and post-production by Fotokem and Esho Sound.
Chris & Miles’ previous films include the award-winning sci-fi short ‘ALUS’ and the psychological horror ‘BOUND’.
