Tull Stories and Park the Bus have announced the upcoming UK cinema release of ‘GOING TO THE DOGS’, a new feature documentary from filmmaker Greg Cruttwell, opening 7 November 2025.
Following his acclaimed sports documentary IN THE MIDDLE (which looked at the world of football referees), Cruttwell turns his lens to another corner of British sporting life — the world of greyhound racing.
A Balanced Look At A Divisive British Sport
‘GOING TO THE DOGS’ examines the past, present, and possible future of greyhound racing — a sport once second only to football in popularity, drawing 75 million annual spectators after World War II.
Traditionally seen as a pastime of the working classes, greyhound racing has faced decades of decline, track closures, and growing public scrutiny. With modern attitudes toward animal welfare shifting dramatically, the film asks an essential question: does greyhound racing still have a place in today’s world?
Through interviews with trainers, owners, activists, veterinarians, and promoters, ‘GOING TO THE DOGS’ offers a detailed and balanced insight into both sides of the debate — from those who believe the sport can be reformed, to those campaigning for its abolition.
Featuring Voices From Inside & Outside The Sport
The documentary features trainers Rab McNair, Kevin Hutton, and Rosie Tungatt; animal welfare campaigners Nathan McGovern and Claudia Penna Rojas from Animal Rising; rehoming volunteer Jodie Payne; veterinarians Polly Smith and Noah Petrovic; and promoter Kevin Boothby.
Cruttwell’s even-handed approach highlights the passion, controversy, and community surrounding the sport — culminating in the 2023 Greyhound Derby final, where tensions and emotions run high.
“I wanted to lift the lid on a highly controversial sport that divides opinions,” says Cruttwell. “The story of the sport needed to be told first-hand by the people living and working within it — and by those who think it should end altogether.”
Tull Stories and Park the Bus will release ‘GOING TO THE DOGS’ in UK cinemas from 7 November 2025.
