Sovereign and Nile Entertainment have released the official trailer for 'SON OF THE SOIL', an award-winning action thriller from genre studio Action Xtreme, ahead of its UK cinema release on 5 December 2025.
Directed by British-Chinese filmmaker Chee Keong Cheung (Redcon-1), the film stars British-Nigerian actor Razaaq Adoti (Black Hawk Down, Amistad), who also wrote the script. The cast includes Patience Ozokwo, Iretiola Doyle, Sunshine Rosman, Taye Arimoro, Emeka Golden and Sharon Rotimi. Shot entirely in Nigeria, 'SON OF THE SOIL' brings a contemporary African action story to UK audiences.
The film has earned major festival recognition, winning Best Director, Overall Best Film and Best International Showcase at the 2025 Black Star International Film Festival in Ghana. It also won the Audience Choice Award at the African International Film Festival, and has received seven nominations at the upcoming Best of Nollywood Awards.
Described by Nollywire as “Nollywood’s most ambitious action film yet,” the film features gritty action set pieces and explores the energy and danger of Nigeria’s criminal underworld. Following a well-received theatrical run in Nigeria, it has been hailed as a “Nollywood game-changer”.
Synopsis: Zion Ladejo, a former Nigerian Special Ops paratrooper, has built a quiet life in exile after a mission went wrong. When news of his sister’s sudden death forces him back home, he is drawn into a Nigeria battling drugs, corruption and organised crime.
