Trailer for ‘MY OWN NORMAL’ has arrived ahead of the film’s North American digital release on 24 April 2026 via Freestyle Digital Media, with the DVD release following on 28 April 2026. The documentary was also part of the 2025 Slamdance Film Festival lineup.
Directed by Alexander Freeman and written by Alexander Freeman and Michaelle McGaraghan, ‘MY OWN NORMAL’ tells the story of Freeman’s life as a filmmaker, husband and father, and examines disability, family expectations and love without sentimentality.
The film follows Alexander after he tells his parents that his girlfriend is pregnant, setting in motion a deeply personal story about building a family and defining life on his own terms.
Synopsis: When filmmaker Alexander Freeman tells his parents that his girlfriend is pregnant, their reaction is not what he expected. Confronting that pain, he sets out to create his own version of a normal life as a partner and parent.
