Directed by Katharina Otto-Bernstein, the documentary is a portrait of legendary CIA spymaster Peter Sichel, tracing his journey from Jewish refugee fleeing Nazi Germany to a key figure in Cold War espionage.
The film uses Sichel’s own reflections, alongside archive material and contributions from those closest to him, to explore espionage, power, truth and the long-term consequences of political decisions that still echo today. ‘THE LAST SPY’ will be released in select cinemas and on digital from 24 April.
Synopsis: At 100 years old, Peter Sichel pulls back the curtain on a life packed with secrets, covert operations, moral dilemmas and geopolitical intrigue. From post-war Berlin to Washington, Iran, Latin America, Indonesia and China, Sichel offers a rare first-hand account of espionage, loyalty and truth, while reflecting on how the covert decisions of the Cold War continue to shape the modern world.
