The official trailer for the new British indie murder mystery feature, ‘DAGGERS INN’, has arrived.
Set in the remote medieval village of Haxanbury, ‘DAGGERS INN’ follows Donna Revan, a mysterious young woman who arrives in the close-knit community with a hidden agenda. Her mission: to uncover the truth behind the murder of her sister, Sybil Revan, whose body was discovered bound and submerged in a lake two years earlier. The case went cold—until now.
Written by Caroline Spence and directed by James Smith, the filmmaking duo behind Raya Films, ‘DAGGERS INN’ is their seventh narrative feature. The film is a slow-burn murder mystery exploring power, misogyny, revenge, and hidden histories in a village where not everything is as it seems.
American actress Terry Bamberger, known for roles in Call The Midwife, Good Ship Murder, and Amazon’s Deep Cover, co-stars as Lauren Oakes—a ruthless law partner with her own secrets.
Filming took place in Essex, UK, including locations such as Billericay and the historic village of Blackmore. The production used real local landmarks, such as the Priory Church of St Laurence, which dates back to 1114, and Megarrys Tea Rooms, packed with antiques and curiosities that reflect the film’s tone.
Although ‘DAGGERS INN’ never directly references the supernatural, the story is layered with visual hints of witchcraft and folklore. Costume and production design subtly reference traditional symbols, with the use of colour (green for evil, purple for good) and other hidden subtle visual references.
‘DAGGERS INN’ is represented for worldwide rights by LA-based sales company House of Film and is set for release in 2025.
