Psychological suspense drama 'UNMOORED' will be released in select UK cinemas from 15 August 2025 via Bulldog Film Distribution.
Adapted from Håkan Nesser’s award-winning novel The Living and the Dead in Winsford, 'UNMOORED' follows Maria, a successful Swedish TV presenter whose life unravels after disturbing accusations are made against her husband. The couple retreats on sabbatical to escape media scrutiny, but a sudden confrontation sets off a desperate chain of events.
Maria eventually flees alone to the isolation of the English moors, where her peaceful new life begins to disintegrate into paranoia and guilt. As secrets rise to the surface, Maria is forced to examine her own complicity in the events that have brought her there.
'UNMOORED' stars Mirja Turestedt (The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest), Thomas W. Gabrielsson (Borgen), Kris Hitchen (Sorry We Missed You), Sven Ahlström (Wallander), and Anna Próchniak (The Tattooist of Auschwitz). The film is directed by Caroline Ingvarsson and written by Michèle Marshall, marking Ingvarsson's feature debut.
With cinematography by Michał Dymek (EO, Sweat), 'UNMOORED' captures both the emotional and physical isolation of its lead character, shot on location in the southern English moors and the Baltic coast of Poland.
The film is produced by Naomi Despres (Lizzie, India Sweets and Spices), Michèle Marshall, and Mariusz Włodarski (Sweat, Apples), and is a co-production between DESMAR, Lava Films, and Anagram Sweden.
