We Are Parable have released the official trailer for 'DREAMERS', the powerful debut feature from UK filmmaker Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor.
The film has been longlisted at this year’s British Independent Film Awards for the Douglas Hickox Award for Best Debut Director and Best Debut Screenwriter.
'DREAMERS' stars Ronkẹ Adékoluẹjo (BEEN SO LONG, RAIN DOGS) as Isio, a Nigerian migrant detained after living undocumented in the UK for two years. Convinced the only way out is to play by the rules, she clashes with her new roommate Farah (Ann Akinjirin), whose defiant attitude challenges Isio’s faith in the system. As their bond deepens, Isio must decide between compliance and risking everything in pursuit of freedom and love.
Following its premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Teddy Award for Best Feature Film, 'DREAMERS' went on to screen at the London Film Festival in The Sutherland Competition and won the GAZE Jury Award for Best Feature at the GAZE International LGBTQIA Film Festival.
Produced by Emily Morgan at Quiddity, and financed by BBC Film, BFI, Newen Connect, Finite Films and OnSight, the film is a timely and moving story about queer love, identity and resistance within the confines of a UK immigration removal centre.
We Are Parable acquired the film from The Yellow Affair on behalf of Studio TF1.
