'NO LIFEGUARD', a new feature documentary from producer Ed Accura and SpaceDNA Studios, will be available to watch free on YouTube from 12am on July 23, 2026.
The release comes two days ahead of World Drowning Prevention Day on July 25.
Directed by Mysterex and filmed across Ghana, Sri Lanka and London, 'NO LIFEGUARD' asks a direct question: who keeps us safe in the water?
The documentary grew out of Accura’s own experience of not learning to swim until adulthood. His personal relationship with water becomes the starting point for a wider film about drowning prevention, water confidence and the communities most affected by limited access to swimming lessons and water safety education.
'NO LIFEGUARD' travels to Ghana and Sri Lanka, where communities speak about the daily reality of water safety and the absence of formal lifeguard support. Back in London, the film includes a conversation with Danielle Obe, co-founder of the Black Swimming Association, about access to swimming and water confidence within Black British communities.
The film is produced by Ed Accura and SpaceDNA Studios, directed by Mysterex, with co-directors Ushitha Samudaya in Sri Lanka and Reuben Koomson in Ghana.
'NO LIFEGUARD' has a running time of 50 minutes.
