'BAD KARAOKE', the feature film debut from directors Chris Lightbody and Robert J. Steinmiller Jr., will have its World Premiere at Tubi FrightFest 2026 on Sunday 30 August.
The horror comedy stars Lexi Underwood, Case Walker, Kat Cunning and Jenna Karan, and follows an aspiring band whose night of karaoke takes a deadly turn.
When wedding band keyboardist Emily discovers an old karaoke machine in the back of a dive bar, she thinks it will lead to a fun-filled night of singing and bonding with her bandmates. Unfortunately, the karaoke machine has a thirst for blood.
As the singing begins, so does the bloodshed. When one strong performance appears to spare someone from the machine, the group think they may have found a way to survive. But they are quickly proved wrong, and it takes more horrifying deaths and a visit from a mysterious stranger before they realise they may have a chance after all.
Commenting on the film’s FrightFest premiere, directors Chris Lightbody and Robert J. Steinmiller Jr. said:
“We were inspired to make this film after years of painful karaoke performances nearly put us in an early grave. We found that many people have had near-death karaoke experiences and we wanted to play with that idea, as well as say something profound about the state of new music. But instead, we made Bad Karaoke.”
