'THE LAST SUNDAY OF HIGH SCHOOL', an independent coming-of-age drama shot entirely in Upstate South Carolina, will be released on VOD streaming, Blu-ray and DVD from August 14, 2026.
The film follows four high school friends who reunite the day after graduation for one last hangout. As they revisit old memories, they face the end of an era and look ahead to the unknown.
Written, directed, produced by and starring Nigel Butler, 'THE LAST SUNDAY OF HIGH SCHOOL' was co-directed by Stewart Butler, who also serves as producer and cinematographer. John Steadman produces and serves as audio coordinator.
The film was shot in Greenville County and Anderson, South Carolina, with local school alumni involved in leading, helping and working on the project. The press kit also notes that the whole cast lived in South Carolina at the time of casting and filming.
Cast includes Sterling Gather, Nigel Butler, John Applegate, Sergio Burgos and Tabitha Butler.
Director Nigel Butler says the goal was to create an authentic independent film that showcases Upstate South Carolina talent while capturing the bittersweet feeling of leaving childhood behind and stepping into the unknown.
