That question drives 'AFTERGLOW', a new British psychological horror written and directed by Aaran McKenzie and starring Georgia Conlan.
The filmmakers have now launched a £15,000 Indiegogo campaign to help complete the independent feature, with BritFlicks hosting its newly released opening interview sequence.

Grief Becomes the Horror
Six months after losing her mother, sixteen-year-old Ava Blakemore discovers an illegal grief-tech capsule capable of allowing brief contact with the dead.
Desperate for one more connection, Ava pushes the technology beyond its intended limits. Comfort gives way to hallucinations, violence and the growing fear that something has followed her back.
McKenzie describes 'AFTERGLOW' as an intimate psychological horror in which grief itself becomes an invasive force.
Aaran McKenzie and Georgia Conlan
Aaran McKenzie is a filmmaker, cinematographer and founding member of Sheffield band While She Sleeps. His previous short films have screened at horror and independent film festivals in the UK and internationally.
Georgia Conlan leads the film as Ava and produces alongside McKenzie. Her screen credits include 'CORONATION STREET', 'CASUALTY', 'HOLLYOAKS', 'THE RECKONING' and 'SISTER BONIFACE MYSTERIES'.
Conlan also wrote, directed, produced and starred in 'CHARLOTTE', which premiered at FrightFest in 2024.
