'THE GALACTIC GHOUL', the retro-futuristic sci-fi comedy from writer-director Simon Harrisson, has released its official teaser trailer ahead of its World Premiere today at the Fantasia International Film Festival.
The Montreal-based Holia Film production will screen in Official Competition at Fantasia on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Cinéma du Musée, Montreal, with the screening starting at 9:30 p.m. A cast and crew photo call takes place at 9:00 p.m., followed by a Q&A after the film.
Set in a fractured futuristic universe, 'THE GALACTIC GHOUL' follows galactic explorers Oscar Bravo and Lieutenant Foxtrot as they attempt to escape the prison planet of Toum.
Vincent Hoss-Desmarais, who also produces and co-writes the film, stars in dual roles as Oscar Bravo and Lieutenant Foxtrot. Canadian genre icon Katharine Isabelle stars as Queen Xaltalusia XXIII.
The film embraces its B-movie roots with an extravagant visual style built from costumes, practical effects, digital animation and hands-on VFX. Harrisson also created the film’s special effects, using green-screen-shot live action and inventive world-building to bring the fractured universe to life.
Blending tense adventure, phantasmagorical space opera and tongue-in-cheek humour, 'THE GALACTIC GHOUL' is a story about love, battle, peace and the resilience of the human spirit in a universe torn apart by conflict.
The cast also includes Russell Yuen, Frédérick Roy, Geneviève Laroche, Alexandre L’Heureux, Christian Paul and Michael Richard.
