Bulldog Film Distribution will release 'OVER/UNDER', a tender coming-of-age drama about friendship, puberty and the inevitable loss of childhood magic, on digital platforms this August.
Directed by Sophia Silver and executive produced by Cooper Raiff of 'CHA CHA REAL SMOOTH' and 'HAL & HARPER', 'OVER/UNDER' will be available digitally in the UK & Ireland from 24 August 2026, and in the US & Canada from 25 August 2026.
Set during the summer of 2002, the film follows Violet West and Stella Steinberg, two nine-year-old best friends who are inseparable. Their days are filled with waves, butterflies, fairies, imagination and the private rituals of childhood.
But when the summer ends, the girls begin to change. Stella has friends back home, but would rather talk about mermaids than tampons. Violet, meanwhile, becomes lonely, attracts the attention of a vicious bully, and silently processes her changing body.
Over the next few summers, Violet and Stella come together again, but puberty, boys, family trauma and the desire to fit in begin to threaten the magic of their friendship.
'OVER/UNDER' is a story of innocence and the loss of innocence, exploring the deepest kind of friendship and reminding us how delicate childhood really is.
The film stars Emajean Bullock in her feature film debut, alongside Anastasia Veronica Lee of 'FRESH KILLS', Adam David Thompson, Madeline Wise, Brandon Keener, Christiane Seidel and Valeria Cotto.
The film has received strong critical praise, with The Hollywood Reporter calling it “a bittersweet film” that captures the difficult path toward adulthood. Loud and Clear Reviews praised it as “heart-warming and moving”, while Arthouse Garage applauded the performances from Emajean Bullock and Anastasia Veronica Lee as “stunning”.
