'KATHLEEN IS HERE' is an acclaimed Irish drama written and directed by Eva Birthistle, starring Hazel Doupe, Clare Dunne and Peter Coonan.
Kathleen is 18 and fresh out of foster care. Her departure coincides with the death of her biological mother, prompting her to return to her hometown and take ownership of the house she has left behind.
Kathleen finds a job and begins to make a friend, but the emptiness in her life cannot be filled by social media and reality television. Alone and desperate for a mother figure, she sets out on an increasingly destructive path to find one.
The film won Eva Birthistle the Bingham Ray New Talent Award at the Galway Film Fleadh and went on to receive seven IFTA Award nominations, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Script and Best Lead Actress for Hazel Doupe.
