The official trailer has landed for 'HEYSEL 85', an intense political drama from director Teodora Ana Mihai, heading to UK cinemas through Icon Film Distribution on November 20, 2026.
Set at Brussels’ Heysel Stadium during the 1985 European Cup Final between Liverpool and Juventus, the film follows events as tensions between supporters erupt into violence and the situation rapidly descends into catastrophe.
At the centre of the story are the daughter of the Mayor of Brussels and an Italian journalist, both drawn into the unfolding tragedy and forced to confront questions of professional duty, family loyalty and moral responsibility.
Blending drama with documentary-style immediacy, 'HEYSEL 85' approaches the tragedy as a lived, moment-by-moment experience rather than a conventional historical reconstruction.
The film stars Violet Braeckman, a 2026 European Film Promotion Shooting Star, alongside Matteo Simoni, Josse De Pauw, Fabrizio Rongione, Paolo Calabresi, Bobby Schofield and Ben Segers.
'HEYSEL 85' will have its UK premiere in the Thrill strand at the 70th BFI London Film Festival on October 15, ahead of its nationwide theatrical release.
