The remarkable life and legacy of Grizzly 399, one of the world’s most famous bears, is at the centre of '399 FOREVER', a new wildlife documentary released worldwide through Buffalo 8 on October 16, 2026.
The film follows passionate wildlife guides, photographers and conservation advocates who have dedicated years to tracking, documenting and protecting Grizzly 399.
As the documentary captures the final year of her life, it also examines the increasingly complicated relationship between wildlife and the people who come to see it. Social media, growing visitor numbers, public education and practical measures such as bear-proof rubbish systems all become part of a much wider question: what does it really mean to protect a wild animal?
