Love, distance and digital communication collide in 'FACE LOVE', a new romantic comedy written and directed by British-Spanish filmmaker Gerald Fillmore.
The film follows Danny, who travels to Spain expecting a short trip to renew his visa. When a global pandemic suddenly leaves him stranded in Madrid, he must try to keep his relationship with Ana alive while she remains thousands of miles away in Los Angeles.
Presented largely through simulated video calls, 'FACE LOVE' turns screens, distance and online communication into part of the film's visual language as the couple attempt to hold their relationship together while the world around them changes.
The production was created using an unusual parallel filmmaking model. The same cast performed the story twice to create two separate feature films: the English-language 'FACE LOVE' and its Spanish counterpart 'AMOR EN TODA LA CARA'.
'FACE LOVE' premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, where it won the DWF:LA Fusion Features Audience Award. The film has also been selected for the New York Latino Film Festival, Catalina Film Festival, San Diego Latino Film Festival and Glendale International Film Festival.
Fillmore, who also stars in the film, is part of the main cast of Netflix series 'DEATH INC.' ('MUERTOS S.L.') and has been named the first Artist-in-Residence at Instituto Cervantes Los Angeles.
