What began as a project created by an out-of-work actor has grown into an RTS-nominated British comedy pilot with ambitions for a full television series.
'KITTY CLAP KLUB', written by Birmingham actor and writer Natasha Killip, follows one disastrous Halloween shift at a struggling strip club where the costumes have disappeared, wages are overdue and the staff are trying to stop the night from falling apart.
Killip began writing the project while she was out of acting work, deciding to create a role for herself rather than wait for the next opportunity to arrive. The result became a female-led ensemble comedy made independently with a West Midlands crew.
Her debut writing work has now earned a nomination in the Writer category at the RTS Midlands Awards 2026, alongside James Graham for 'DEAR ENGLAND' and Charlie Dennis for 'THE PIGS UNDERNEATH'.
Killip also performs in and executive produced the pilot, which is directed by Jack Richardson and produced by Poppy Abbott. Connections through Birmingham's Reel Brum film and television community helped bring the team together.
'KITTY CLAP KLUB' screened at Flatpack Festival at Mockingbird Cinema on May 9, 2026. The team is now seeking a production partner to develop the pilot into a television series.
