'500 FIREFLIES', a new heartfelt dramedy from writer-director Lysandra Petersson, arrives on North American Digital HD, DVD, cable and satellite platforms on November 3, 2026 through Freestyle Digital Media.
Set in 1995, the film follows Daniel, a struggling single father who moves his daughter June back to his rural hometown for the summer, only to find a community hit hard by economic decline and the departure of its younger generation.
Desperately in need of financial help, Daniel turns to his estranged father Oscar, who agrees to provide a vital loan — but only on one unusual condition.
Daniel must catch 500 fireflies.
Forced to put aside his pride, Daniel embarks on the seemingly impractical quest. Along the way, he grows closer to his neighbour Miriam, while the challenge places increasing strain on his relationship with June.
As Daniel tries to rebuild his own life, '500 FIREFLIES' explores family, forgiveness, community and the possibility of beginning again, while asking whether one man finding his way home could also offer hope to the struggling town around him.
The film stars Brian Villalobos as Daniel, Brett Cooper as June and Richard Riehle as Oscar.
