'HAPS – CRIME DOESN’T PAY', the German prison and gangster drama from writer, director and producer Ekrem Engizek, will launch digitally across 98 countries on October 22, 2026.
The international release follows an exclusive Hollywood premiere at the Dolby Screening Room Hollywood Vine in Los Angeles on October 19.
At the centre of the film is Alexander Rothstein, played by Constantin von Jascheroff. Imprisoned for drug trafficking, Alexander is thrown into a prison world shaped by violence, power struggles, intrigue and betrayal.
As the situation escalates, he faces an increasingly brutal choice: remain a victim or become a monster himself.
'HAPS – CRIME DOESN’T PAY' originally opened theatrically in Germany on March 27, 2025, before being supported by a nationwide cinema tour covering more than 50 German cities.
For its international digital launch, the film has been prepared in six language versions: German, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Turkish, alongside multiple subtitle options. The German and English versions are also available in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Digital distribution is handled by LEONINE in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with ODMedia handling other agreed international territories.
The cast also includes Cem Öztabakci, Kais Setti, Amir Israil Aschenberg, Michael Lott, Anna Stieblich and Xenia Georgia Assenza.
