'BLOODY NIGHT', a new Hungarian horror feature from writer-director Tibor Dusa, has unveiled its international trailer as the film heads to the American Film Market with international sales handled by EuroObscura.
Set inside the historic Apollo Cinema in Debrecen, the film follows night watchman Lóránt Tompos, who discovers an old horror movie costume and a long-lost 35mm film reel hidden in the cinema's basement.
Tompos regularly holds unofficial late-night screenings and decides the forgotten film would make the perfect addition. His colleague Simi, however, desperately warns him that the movie must never be shown.
According to local legend, the film premiered at the Apollo Cinema thirty years earlier. Only six people bought tickets — and by the end of the screening, all six were dead. The film's director reportedly took his own life shortly afterwards.
Tompos dismisses the story as superstition and starts the projector, unwittingly awakening a decades-old curse and triggering a brutal night of supernatural horror inside the locked cinema.
'BLOODY NIGHT' combines supernatural horror, slasher thrills and a cursed film-within-a-film story, drawing inspiration from the visceral horror cinema of the 1980s and 1990s.
The historic Apollo Cinema is central to the film's atmosphere, with production taking place inside the still-operational theatre. Principal photography was spread across six months, with the filmmakers shooting on Friday nights after public screenings had finished.
The cast includes Ákos Dámóczi Pusztai, Petra Molnár, Levente Felföldi, Tibor Somogyi and Ágnes Sőreghy.
'BLOODY NIGHT' held its exclusive premiere on October 16, 2026, and is scheduled for theatrical release in Hungary in February 2027. EuroObscura is representing the film internationally.
