'BOLIO', a heartfelt American comedy starring Eugene Cordero and Gabriel Hogan, will screen at the Big Apple Film Festival in New York City on November 10, 2026.
Directed by Jim Issa, the film follows Dale Bolio, a depressed high school shop teacher who feels trapped in a life he does not know how to change.
Desperate to become a better version of himself and win back his estranged wife Gale, played by Tawny Newsome, Dale hires charismatic life coach Chuck Swayze, played by Gabriel Hogan.
Chuck arrives full of confidence, big promises and questionable advice, and Dale begins to believe his unconventional methods might actually work.
But as the pair develop an unlikely friendship, Chuck's carefully constructed persona begins to unravel and Dale discovers that the man he trusted to fix his life may be just as lost as he is.
Forced to find his own way forward, Dale must stop looking to somebody else for answers and decide what kind of man he wants to become.
The ensemble cast also includes Tony Shalhoub, Tawny Newsome, Brooke Adams, Emily Tarver, Kevin Heffernan, Sarah Baker and Amir Talai.
Shalhoub also serves as an executive producer, alongside producers and filmmakers associated with the Broken Lizard comedy troupe.
'BOLIO' began with the character of Dale, originally created by improv performers between takes on a Spike TV sketch show. The idea was later developed into a feature exploring friendship, vulnerability, self-acceptance and the often misguided search for somebody who has all the answers.
The film's New York City screening takes place at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 10 at Cinema Village as part of the Big Apple Film Festival. Director Jim Issa and producers Mark Donadio and Miriam Marcus are scheduled to take part in a post-screening Q&A.
