Trailer for ‘THE SESSION MAN’ has arrived ahead of the film’s UK digital release on 4 May 2026 via Reel2Reel Films.
Directed by Mike Treen and produced by John Wood and Mike Sherman, the documentary tells the story of Nicky Hopkins, the gifted British pianist whose work helped shape some of the most iconic songs in rock history.
Though he often stayed out of the spotlight, Hopkins collaborated with an extraordinary list of artists including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who, Rod Stewart, Dusty Springfield, Jeff Beck, Cat Stevens, Peter Frampton, Joe Cocker, Art Garfunkel, Donovan, Ella Fitzgerald, The Steve Miller Band and Carly Simon.
Narrated by Bob Harris, the film also features contributions from Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Pete Townshend, Peter Frampton, Bill Wyman and more, while Moira Hopkins shares a more personal portrait of the man behind the music. More than 30 years after his death, Hopkins was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November 2025 and is due to be inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame on 28 April 2026.
